Esben Pedersen

Esben Pedersen is an Operating Partner at Sandbrook.  He has over 25 years of experience in the energy sector as a principal investor, executive and industry leader.  He advises companies, CEOs and boards in areas such as finance, M&A, operational scaling and management.

Prior to joining Sandbrook, Esben was the Chief Financial Officer of Pattern Energy.  He was a founding member of Pattern, growing the renewable energy platform from start-up to one of the world’s leading renewable energy independent power companies.  As CFO, he managed the company through material growth and capital formation, including overseeing the financing of one of the world’s largest renewables projects, a take-private restructuring and overseeing public company financing and reporting.  Prior to his role as CFO, Mr. Pedersen serves as Chief Investment Officer for Pattern Energy Group Inc., where he managed the investment program for the publicly listed IPP.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Pedersen worked at Babcock & Brown, an investment bank, as a principal investment professional, managing large, private investments in power, gas and renewable energy.  Esben started his career at Enron Corp. as an associate.  Most of his early experience there was involved in work-out, restructuring and sale of Enron estate’s international assets across multiple jurisdictions in South and Central America and Europe.   Esben holds an undergraduate degree in business from Stetson University and a master’s degree in international economics from Johns Hopkins University.
